Platen Register Press (PRPTM)
"Reinventing
how we view short run orders"
Six Color Print = One Screen....here's how The
Platen Register Press (PRP!") was invented by Jim Harris, a vocational
school instructor in Southern California. The invention of the PRP!"
was facilitated due to several reasons: limited workspace area, a limited
school budget, and the number of students in his classroom. Each semester,
15 to 20 students would create a four-color design to be printed on a
small number of t-shirts. Some students would also print the design on
paper using the offset presses. There were six offset presses and only
one silkscreen press making it very difficult for the students to finish
their projects on time.

IItems included in purchase:
PRP and Exposure Unit What is the largest image I can print on the PRP!" 15"wide by 18"high Can I print only one
color on the PRP!" How many colors can the
PRP!" print? Does this press really
work? I currently own a large
print shop, how will this help me and are there any other printers using
this press? I currently own a 4
color press, how can I make this press work with my current press? How accurate is the
registration? How does the PRP!"
differ from other presses? Another aspect of the PRP!" is that it will allow a silk screen printer to reduce the cost of setup. Most silk screen presses need four screens to print a four color job, or six screens to print a six color job, and so on. The PRP!" is the only press that will allow you to minimize the cost of setup by eliminating screens. Because of the unique design of the PRP!", you'll be able to fit a four to six color pocket sized design onto one screen. Do I need special tools
to register one color to another? What is the largest screen
that can be used on the PRP!"? How much floor space
do I need?

ScreenVac
Mr. Farris designed a process that would make exposing a screen less costly, more effective and surprisingly simple. Most units utilize a rubber blanket that envelops the screen, exposing it to a high concentration of UV. While the ScreenVac!" system is similar, the one main difference in comparison is that the ScreenVac!" substitutes a rubber blanket with a vacuum plate. Rubber blankets are both costly and ineffective when a pin-sized hole is detected. The two most common solutions were to either replace the blanket itself or "patch" the hole. Replacing the entire blanket can get expensive while "patching" the hole would only be a short-term solution leading to a eventual bigger problem. The ScreenVac!" uses what we call a "vacuum plate". The plate is not only very effective, but can also withstand constant use over a long period of time. The vacuum plates edges are molded with a soft foam padding to allow flexing when a vacuum is applied. This superior method not only prolongs the life of the unit, but the replacement cost of the vacuum plate is substantially less than that of a rubber blanket.

Items included in purchase:
*Screen Vac!" plate only needs to cover the inside dimensions of the screen. Screen must be covered in emulsion for the Screen Vac!" plate to work properly. What is the largest image I can expose on the ScreenVac!" 22"wide by 28"high What if I need a larger
plate for my press? How detailed is the image
I expose on a screen? Since the screen is
pulled towards the plate, are there any problems with registration later? Can I expose aluminum
frame screens? How does this machine
expose screens without the customary rubber blanket? Can I just order the
ScreenVac!" for my existing exposure unit? For more information, contact us at 800-356-8866 or 805-642-5585. |
